The Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA) is the regulator mandated by the Government of Ontario to enforce the province’s circular economy laws.
RPRA oversees the extended producer responsibility (EPR) framework for resource recovery programs for batteries, Blue Box materials, electronics, household hazardous and special products, lighting and tires. This includes supporting businesses to comply with their requirements and undertaking enforcement actions when required.
RPRA is also responsible for operating digital reporting services for waste programs beyond resource recovery, such as Ontario’s excess soil and hazardous and liquid industrial waste programs.
